Hypocracy

I am sick and tired of Christians that are so wrapped up in themselves that they don't see the pain that exists all around them. I believe that is one reason people don't find Christianity appealing...mass hypocracy. "They will know you by your love". It's hard to find true, Christ-like love in churches today and I believe it scares Christians when they are confronted with it. They just close their eyes and go into their little hippy "make peace, not war" trance and everything becomes ok. While the real world slits their wrists in the ignorant faces of those who love them unconditionally. And if that doesn't convict you, I believe you have a serious problem. It's hypocracy and the blindness to it's effects in our own lives that turns people away, and I find that unacceptably sad.

This is good..amen..Jesus died for us too remember. Wasn't always well received was He. Misunderstood and spoken evil of and falsly accused, and He promised the same would happen to us.

There are a lot of things that Christ did that a lot of christians seem to think we shouldn't. Things such as taking action based upon righteous indignation, taking an active stance instead of a passive one, and even going so far as to be what most people would classify as "impatient". If Jesus is God, and God does no wrong, then the incidents with the fig tree, and the moneychangers, and the denouncement of the Pharisees aren't inherently "bad" or "wrong" or "evil" if they're done with a Christ-like heart.

When my Savior saw the moneychangers in the temple, He didn't politely ask them to leave. He overturned tables (Matt 21:12) and chased them all out. Jesus got ill. lol

Jesus never just sat back and prayed. Not that prayer isn't *VERY* important to Christian life; on the contrary, it's essential. But if we only pray, and never act, we're nothing more than messengers. God's got all the "messengers" He wishes in the angels; that's what the word "angel" means. What I believe He wants from us is to actually *do* something, and I've noticed that in my experience, in this region of the US, the least hypocritical christians are the ones who do things in addition to prayer, and not just sit back and "pray everything works out for the best".

I believe that if you are a true Christian, you will be drawn to help others in need. Christ was. So should we.

how do you know that all those "hypocrites" don't just need some encouragment? maybe they have slipped and need encouragement from a real Christian?

Well not all Christians just "close their eyes and go into their little hippy 'make peace, not war' trance" because I certainly don't.

The Fact is everyone is a hypocrit..just some seem to be trying more than others..I don't know why some try so hard to be hypocrits ..but the more you care about the Lord the more often you are criticized for being a hypocrit especially if you slip and Need encouragment...

"Hypocracy" is a weapon that our enemy Satan uses against God's Children. Don't forget, we are all still in this world and still fall into the traps that are set for us. Satan can't kill us, but he can and does put a blanket over our lights at times. Please don't be sick and tired of our brothers and sisters that need help from the trap they are in. Pray for them and also ask how you can be of help to them. God's grace, peace and blessings to you in a mighty way. :-)

I agree with Old Geezer. Because no matter How much hipocracy is out there..God is never that far from US. the point is to learn to put less stock in what the "world" is doing and that includes hypocrits and just getting right with the LORD. It takes God to change a heart and changed heart is a changed life. Don't wait for the World to change cause from what I see in the bible things are going to get worse. I'm sure you've read revelation. I don't want to worry about what "they" are doing cause "they" will have their own worldly reward.

I think that many of those who don't find Christianity appealing see it that way because they don't like the idea of having to confront the fact there there is a true, absolutely holy, righteous, perfect, and all-mighty God, and that there really is such a thing as "absolute truth", and that they are sinners and must confront that fact. People don't like to face that "sin" stuff, or that there really is absolute truth, or that there is only One way to God the Father, or that there really is a heaven and a hell beyond this life.

I know Christians aren't perfect ... but the ones I hang out with volunteer at hospitals, soup kitchens, battered women's shelters, and many other places where they do see misery and violence. They try to show love the best they can. Certainly there is a lot of misery everywhere we look and we could use more Christians reaching out, but not all are wrapped up in themselves. I'm sorry you're sick and tired. If you'd ever like to talk, I'll listen. You can find me in the chatroom. We can go to the Deep Discussion room if you'd like a little privacy.
