bear one another's burdens?

But some need to learn that the rest of us aren't here to take care of THEM...or Love them to the detrement of our OWN well being...*sigh*

Even when things are not going well, we can look around and find someone who has a much more severe or immediate problem that what we are dealing with ourselves. I have to say that many of our modern problems pale in comparison to many problems that some of our relatives from generations past have had to face. In fact, here in America we have things so good in general that many of us sometimes have to almost manufacture problems to complain about. Granted, problems will come and do come, but we sure are whiney about it these days. It's as if we are now living under some assumption that we have a right not to ever have a bad day. Then if we have a good day, we get bored with it and start to look for some "fly in the ointment" to complain about. And if that's not enough, we want everyone else to bear the burden for us. How many times have I heard people ask others to pray for all kinds of things, from legitimately serious matters down to seemingly idiotic things like "Lord please don't let the light bulb go out because I'm too lazy to unscrew it". Nothing wrong with seeking prayer help. We all need it from time to time. But when the prayers of other are sought, have you prayed in earnest about it yourself first? Or do you just want everyone else to do it for you... as if they don't have troubles of their own?
